Racing to Save Lives!

Call me crazy! I'm pounding the pavement and raising money again for TNT!

Most of you know that one of our greyhounds, Bonnie Twist, was diagnosed with Lymphoma on February 6th, 2008. We immediately began chemotherapy and treatment with our vets leading the way. Bonnie put up an amazing fight. On the one year anniversary of her battle with lymphoma (2/6/09), Bonnie's little body couldn't fight anymore. In doing all of the research, we learned that many of the chemo drugs that Bonnie had taken are also used in humans to treat blood cancers. Drew and I wanted to find a way to give back.

I also have a Great Aunt (Aunt Dona in Wisconsin!) who has been battling lymphoma. She has been one tough cookie through ups and downs. We have a huge family and everyone has cheered her through the treatments. We really wanted to fight back somehow and help find a cure!

Working with TNT for more than a year now, I can honestly say that the organization is amazing. Our dollars will go to a wonderful cause. I hope all of you will follow our journey as Drew and I both run in San Diego on June 6, 2010! There is no better feeling than knowing that we are all part of an amazing mission. I've pledged to raise $3,000 this time around. Please help us raise money to find a cure!

6-6-10 We did it! Drew and I finished 26.2 miles! I had a great race and crossed the finish line in 4 hours and 59 minutes (with my goal being 5 hours)! Thank you to all of you! 4,000 TNT participants were in San Diego and we raised $12 million dollars for cancer research! Amazing!!!

5-23-10 We had a very busy weekend, but I've made my fundraising goal!!! We rode bikes as a fundraiser on Friday night and had a big yard sale on Saturday. With those 2 events, I've reached my goal! Thank you to all of you who have donated and supported me this season! Less than 2 weeks now!

5-15-10 20 miles this morning!!! We all did really well and didn't run into any major problems. My stomach held up great, so I'm very relieved!!! Thank you all for the donations! Almost there!

5-1-10 We ran close to 18 miles today, including the local Park to Park 1/2 Marathon in Waynesboro. Despite a lot of stomach trouble, my legs carried me the whole way. Not too much longer now!

4-20-10 I'm still trying to recover after running 16 miles this past Saturday. We all had a pretty rough day. Fundraising-wise, I've only got $825 left to raise, after counting the IHOP donation and donations sent in already! Thank you everyone!

4-3-10 The Charlottesville 10 Miler was today! We did 4 miles before hand and then lined up for the race. I was very proud of myself, finishing in 1 hour, 45 minutes. It's a very tough course with tons of hills. Feeling great!

3-14-10 Today, we had our longest training run yet, 10 miles! Despite the rainy weather and some killer hills, I finished without any walking! This was a big accomplishment for me. In the past, I've had to walk some . I definitely feel stronger and faster this season! Thanks again for the donations! I'm about 1/3 to my goal!

3-6-10 I ran 8 miles this morning and had a great run! Tonight we're having a large group fundraiser at a local pub. This will be the 3rd group fundraiser I've done in about a month. I'm trying to plan more of these to meet my goal without heckling my family and friends! :)

2-20-10 Drew and I were back out at 7 AM for our 2nd long run, 6 miles this time around. I managed to survive the hills that I hate the most in C'ville (4 different times!), so I'm very happy!

2-13-10 Our 1st training run! We've had so much snow and bad weather, we haven't even been able to have our big Kick-off party yet! Today's run was our 1st team event...4 miles at 7 AM. Took a bit to get used to running outside in the cold weather again, but everything went well! Thanks for the donations right away. It's given me a boost!
