Racing to Save Lives


Welcome to my Team In Training home page.


I'm training to participate in The Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C., on October 30th, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.


I am completing this marathon in honor of my grandfather, Gaylord Collins. He meant the world to me and although I have a lot of great memories, I would have loved to have had him around a lot longer than we did. My grandfather died when I was 12 of cancer. In the short time that I had with him, he taught me so much and he had the best sense of humor, we were always laughing. I wish that my two sons could have known him like I did and could have had the memories that I have. He was a fantastic man and I miss him every day.


I am also running for all the others that have either survived or have died from a blood cancer. We have many survivors that participate in these events. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
