Racing to Save Lives! Really, it's only 13.1 miles!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
4/1/2010 - This isn't an April Fools Joke! I ran 12 miles last weekend. I am one of the few who is running the half and we ran my least favorite course last weekend. Sorry but I hate running around a park twice COACH!
But I did it, I ran 12 miles. The longest run I have ever done. Thanks to the support of those who are sponsoring me and cheering me on.
I have 2 weeks until I run my first half. The Salt Lake City Half is on the 17th. And the Ogden marathon is in 6 weeks. It's amazing how much I actually enjoy running. The group is great and really inspires me...even though I rarely see them because they are off running 18 miles... ya I dont even want to get there.
Thanks everyone for your Love and Support! I can't wait to share pictures from all the races. My offical race photographer is rob. He failed on one five mile run but this time he will have the big camera. I will carry the little camera to catch all the crazy moments on film. And of course try to catch Coach Dave running across the finish line.
3/22/2010 - Now we are getting down to business. I have 50 days to raise my last 600 dollars. I could use all the help I can. How committed to this race am I? I have to pay the money out of my pocket if I don't raise it. It's a great cause I believe in!! I hope you all can help me out.
Saturday I ran 8 miles, this Saturday I am up to 12. Really the end is in site, I love it and I run without an ipod. Trust me there is a lot to think about when you are just running. This past week.. .a kitty ran for about two minutes with me. It was so funny she was just meowing right behind me. I kinda felt like the Pied Piper. I feel like she was just cheering me on saying.. go go go!
2/9/2010 - Wow I have been down and out since the 23rd. I was so sick and my doctor told me not to run. but now I am back at it. Last night I did 2.3 miles and I have to say it was painful. Probably because I didn't have my TNT buddies to get me through but I will see them all on Saturday.
Thanks to everyone for their donations. I am getting ready to get it into high gear! I have to reach my goal.. It is a far way off but I am going to do it!
1/23/2010 I ran 7.6 miles on Saturday. I will tell you it was pretty painful for the first 5 miles and then toward the end I hit my stride. I ran a little slower but it was nice to see the snow coming down.
I now realize I have to make choices when it comes to my weekend plans. Going out late on a Friday night really doesn't work because I have to get up and run in the morning. Our friends battling Leukemia don't have a choice and so I get up and run because I do.
Thanks to everyone who has donated to help find a cure and save lives. It is a wonderful thing you all are doing. And I am getting close to 25% WHOOP!!
11/28/2009 - 5k and Training 1 day apart. That is a killer but I did it. I ran/walked the 5k in 38 minutes. And then did about 30 minutes of running. It is hard to train without your ipod but I am working on getting over it and building relationships with my teammates.
11/23/2009 - I am running the South Davis Recreation Center 5k on Thanksgiving. And on the 28th I will partcipate in my first TNT training run! Exciting.
11/5/2009 - It's finally time. I have said over and over again I am going to run! Well now I am! I am hoping to raise enough money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training to make it to Vancouver!
Why Team in Training? While I haven't had someone with a blood cancer a former co-worker lost his little girl to cancer last year. Emily Barger is honored by the Butterfly Fund. This is about paying it forward! I will run but my battle is nothing compared to the fight going on with the families every day.
I also get the luxury of running for a little guy... Austin Shamy! He is now 4 years old and the cutest little guy. Check out his page www.spidermanfightscancer.com
Thanks for your support! I hope to do you all proud by finishing the Vancouver Marathon in 2010. And of course keeping you entertained with my antics while trying to raise money and run for a cure!
Thanks for the support
