After months of searching for the cause of the pain in my left arm, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma on May 12, 2011. I was very fortunate to receive treatment from the experts at Huntsman Cancer Hospital which included four rounds of chemotherapy and twenty days of radiation. I'm thrilled to report that I am now in remission.
I asked my oncologist what I could do to prevent a relapse. She said that there are no guarantees but that diet and exercise would improve the odds. In the past, I've considered running a marathon but always put it off. Well, cancer has a way of rearranging priorities, so the time is now. I ran the Ogden half marathon in May of 2012 and have partnered with TNT to do it again in 2013. Participating in and finishing that race was one of the best experiences of my life. The energy of the 3000 other runners, the scenery through the canyon and crossing the finish line were all incredible.
Please join me in raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, we can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well. Donations are tax-deductible.
