Racing to Save Lives Ocober 25, 2008 Only 3 weeks to go until race day! Thank you to everyone who has given so generously. I ran 10 miles this morning and it was tough (I don't think the rain helped). I did finish the 10, so I am telling myself I will be fine on race day. A few people have asked me about writing a check to donate. If you would like to donate by check please make it payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and mail directly to me by November 2. (contact me if you need my address) Happy Fall! September 24, 2008 I have a few running inspired t-shirts for sale at www.zazzle.com/abegor. More to be added soon and I take requests! :) Check it out! September 9, 2008 I had a tough run this morning. I wanted to stay in bed but went for a run anyway. I ended up being stung during my warm-up, but I kept going. Then, I was caught in a thunderstorm on the way home, but I kept going (I really should watch the weather). What kept me going was thinking of Sasha and everything she went through while battling Hodgkin's. It wasn't a great run, but she gave me strength and I'm looking forward to running 6 miles on Saturday. Did I really just say that?... August 21, 2008 I have decided to do it again! I'm training to participate in the San Antonio Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! I am also completing this event in memory of my college friend, Sasha, who lost her battle with Hodgkin's in May 2006. We were roommates as interns in Washington, DC and I will always remember her great sense of humor and her wonderful spirit. Below is a photo of us from her 21st birthday. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support! ~Alison |
