Every Step Brings us Closer to a Cure!
I'm training to participate in PF Chang's Marathon in Phoenix, AZ as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. The marathon is on January 18, 2009, and my goad is to raise $5,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by that date.
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of Will, a 4-year old boy in the Albany area who is bravely undergoing treatment for leukemia, and in honor of Katie, a young woman who is also bravely undergoing treatment for leukemia.
I am also training in memory of Ryon and Katelyn, family members of dear friends of mine who were taken from this world far too young, after battles with leukemia.
I'm also running in memory of Aunt Eve, Grandpa Is, and Marvin.
My lifelong friend Becky, pictured with me in this photo, is also undertaking this challenge. She will be running the 1/2 Marathon on the same date in Phoenix, and raising the same amount for LLS. Together, we will raise at least $8,800, and run a combined total of 39.3 miles!
