I Can't Do This Without You!!!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
A good friend of mine called me the other day. We spent some time chatting and catching up, and I clued her in about my fifth go-round running a half marathon for the Leukemia Society.
This is how the conversation went.....
"You get up every Saturday at 6:00 a.m. to run?" ..."Yup"
"What if it's raining? " ...."I get wet". "What if it's cold and snowy?" ...."I run more carefully and I bundle up"
Doesn't that kill your knees? Didn't you have surgery on your knee two years ago?" ......."Yup"
"What about that back muscle tear you just had...you're not going to do the run with that going on, are you?" ....."Yup"
"So you're out there running every weekend, your knees hurt, your back hurts, you're working a full time job, you're still answering calls for the fire department, and you have to raise $1500. When does THIS get fun?"....."It gets fun when I'm done"
" Why the hell are you doing this to yourself? Can't you just donate some cash and be done with it?"
"I'm doing this because I hate asking people for money...so if I'm putting myself out there and running and training...it doesn't feel so much like begging. And...I don't want to have yet another kid that I'm running in honor of, become a kid that I'm running in memory of. Get it now?"
To my friends:
I'm running my FIFTH half marathon for Team in Training/Leukemia Society. I'm running in memory of Tanner Zullo and Aidan O'Malley.....and in honor of Brianna Blank, the daughter of a good friend of mine, who also happens to be Chief of Department of North Boston Fire Department, NY. Brianna is also MY friend. She rocks. You have no idea. Take my word for it. She's amazing.
I REALLY hate asking for money...so please put me in my comfort zone and donate without me having to beg you. If I don't raise the $1500.....I have to pay it out of pocket. I don't have it....so I'm hoping my peeps will keep me from going to the poor house.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In
Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back
frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
