Power Walking/Running to Save Lives - One Mile at a time!!!
Welcome to Margarita's Team In Training home page.
Love God, Love People!!!
Raising funds to help find a CURE!!!
I am doing all of this because I love people so much!!!
Hey there my friends and family, well we are now to the point where the donations are so needed to reach my goal before I have to pay out of pocket, my cutoff is final on 1/18/11 to get as many donations as possible. After Tuesday 1/18/11, I will have to pay the remaining balance in order to participate in the Houston 1/2 marathon, which really means a great deal to me as well as finding a CURE for this deadly disease.
Just so everyone knows my where a bouts, I am training and ready to do my 1/2 (with your participation in donating to my fundraiser), going to school as a full time student and yes still working also. I have alot going on, but am so determined to continue my training to hopefully get to be part of the 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) here in Houston and to know that you and I have made a difference in such a deadly disease.
Jonathan (the young man above) is now cancer free, but because of all the steroids, chemo, and other medications, he has now become a diabetic, lost his teeth completely as well as weight, and has other complications. The doctors are still watching him closely because there are times that he has vomiting throughout the day that causes him to go back into the hospital for test and again more time in the hospital. His parents spend the moments with him in the hospital while he is there, so just that all of you know there is still other things that our cancer patients go through even after they are Cancer Free. I have visited Jonathan since I have been training to keep myself informed on his condition. If you would have just seen his little face when he saw me, Yes, even I wanted to cry because I was just as proud to do what I am doing and now I would like to share that feeling with you as well, please take a moment and make a donation towards a good cause...

Now, I need to ask those of you that have not made a donation to my fundraiser to please take a moment to help me reach my goal. I am almost to the point where I will have to pay out of pocket if I do not get my friends and family to help be part in kicking Cancer in the BUTT, please take a moment to make a small donation towards finding a cure for this disease. Cancer does not have a specific race, age or gender, it can affect any one at any given time in age and it could be one of our own loved ones. I would like to know that there is a cure and I would be more than happy to know that I was part of helping raise funds for research, wouldnt you like to be part of this as well, please take a moment of your time and make a donation towards this cause. Thank you so much in advance and May God Bless You and Your Family Always!!
Well hello my charming wonderful friends, I would like to inform you that my training is really going well, I have been able to do 10 miles in 2hrs. 8min...that may be slow to some, but to me I think it is great!! Trust me, it is not as easy as some may think, the first 1/2 marathon I completed in April 2010, I expierienced blisters, blacktoe and lots of aching in my lower back and legs, which had me finishing in 3 hrs. 33 mins. Now, I am so ready to help kick Cancers butt!! However, my fundraiser is needing your support to help me cross the finish line, I have recommitted myself to raise funds for such a great cause and I really need your help to raise the remainder of my goal amount of $1173. Please take a moment and make a donation towards finding a cure for blood cancers. Lets all be proud of each other knowing that we have been a part of this research.

Well, I really apologize for not posting often as I would like, but my days have been so busy with family, work, school, running, fundraising, and also getting ready for my 13.1 in San Antonio this weekend (11/14/10), I am so excited, my goal is to finish in 2hrs. 45 mins., I will post once I return from SA to let you know how we did....and keeping up with my little friend Jonathan. Jonathan has been in the hospital for now 3 weeks, we did hear that he is CANCER FREE!!! (YIPPEE HORRAY!!), but because of all the medications that he has been on he has had some really rought times. We last heard that he had fluid in his lungs and some on his brain as well, the doctors have insterted tubes to drain the fluids from both areas and still today he is still having to deal with that. There are days that he becomes incoherient, and of course that brings alot of concern to his parents and to me as well. We never know what kids like Dana, Emily, Matthew, Jonathan, or even an adult like Christie ever go through, but we can do something by being a part of helping in the research area, please take a moment and make a donation towards a very good cause, because Leukemia can affect any one no matter the age.

Today has been a very difficult day for me, not only am I keeping up with my little buddy pictured above at one of his treatment appointments while at MD Anderson, but to find out that one of our PeopleSoft team members (Ron Mizrany), whom I had the pleasure to work with has gone to be with the Lord, after his long battle with Leukemia. May God be with his family at this time of sorrow. Again, it remindes me that I have to try to help raise funds to help find a CURE for this deadly disease that can at any time take one of our loved ones that we may or may not know. I am doing all of this knowing that I can and am healthy enough to do this for our brothers and sisters who can't do it alone, not only them but for their families as well. I like to know that with your support we can help find a CURE for these blood cancers. Please take a moment to make any type of donation every little bit will help.
God Bless you all always!!
Power Walking/Running for a CURE....ONE MILE AT A TIME!!!
Sept. 14, 2010
Well, it had been a week for me and I had not done much on my training, but every morning I wake up Thanking God for allowing me to see another day and then praying that we will soon find a cure for these blood cancers and all the other diseases out there that are causeing our brothers and sisters to suffer. So then I think about my fundraising and believeing that God will send all my friends & family to sponsor me in this fundraising for a CURE. I realize we are all busy, but it will only take less than 5 minutes to donate online and you will not have to worry about it anymore, this is not for me but it is for people like Jonathan, Christine, Matthew, Ron and Emily. They are not as fortunate as I/we am/are to where they can just wake up and do what they want, they have to go see those doctors that God has to direct to help do the best for them continuously. For instance Jonathan is now being treated for an infection he has gotten, as well as pneumonia and he is also dealing with migrane headaches since Aug. 8 on a daily basis, and his gums acheing as well. Who knows just how long he will have to keep fighting all these issues. Please help find a cure for these blood diseases by making a donation towards my fundraiser.
You may read my story about Jonathan:
Jonathan was diagnosed with having Acute Myeloid Leukemia on Monday, August 25, 2008. This is a rare form of Leukemia for adolescents, with approximately only 500 cases per year nationally. Jonathan was at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Where they begun the aggressive treatment.
At that time, it was estimated that Jonathan would remain at the hospital for 4-6 weeks and would spend the majority of his time at the hospital for the next 9 months more than he would had been out of the hospital. This was a massive transition for his family as they stand with Jonathan in this battle. At Texas Children's he was surrounded by renowned Leukemia doctors and others.
After 8+ months of INTENSE TREATMENT, most spent inpatient, JONATHAN walked out of Texas Children's CANCER FREE!
However; JONATHAN had relapsed and was back at Texas Children's and begun treatment August 24, 2009.
Jonathan had a double cord blood transplant on February 5, 2010. At this time Jonathan still has many doctor appointments he goes to at MD Anderson.
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. With your support and donations, I hope to help find a cure for those who are battling blood cancers, and in order to do this I have set a goal to raise $1900 to help find a cure for this disease. Our honoree teammates as well as Jonathan are the real heroes on our team.
Since I have been a member of LLS, I have met many heroes (young and old). I never even knew such a disease existed until I joined LLS back in 2009. I will never know exactly what they go through, but at least I can say that I had the opportunity to help raise funds with the support of wonderful people like you, who can make a difference in finding a cure.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
