Welcome to my Team In Training home page!

I'm training to participate for the Houston Half Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation in honor of all the heroes out there. A donation of $16 is enough to cover a day of parking for a patient at the Houston Medical Center - just another thing LLS covers! :)

I really wanted to share 'my story' of how I came to Team in Training, but it has been difficult for me to put into words. I think I have written this paragraph about a dozen different ways! It started by word of mouth, I think as it does for most people. A couple of my favorite people had finished the program and had nothing but good things to say. I don't have anyone close to me that has battled a blood cancer, but I have witnessed first hand how it affects patients and their families through volunteer work on the Oncology/Hematology floor of the Texas Children's Hospital. Through my work there, I have caught just a tiny glimpse of the crosses these families bear, yet it has been enough to humble me and make me realize I would be lucky to ever have the kind of strength they do.

So, with that being said, after signing up for several races this year, all for a cause people seem to forget as soon as race day comes, I decided to make this event different. Every mile I cover will be for all of the people and their families battling a blood cancer - the real heroes :)

Thanks again for your support - together we can kick cancer's butt!
