******Week 15

My friends Cole And Brittney Lange were kind enough to let me use their house for a garage sale. We spent a lot of time getting ready and selling, and it paid off! I raised $500 for the cause and am now only $900 away from my goal! I am very pleased with the level of financial success, and I got to clean out some things I didn't use anymore. Training is going well, but it's time for new shoes. Our milage is up to 18, but we still have a way to go before the marathon! I can't believe that the marathon is almost here! Thank you for your continued support and donations!

****Week 13

I had to lay off the short runs and spend some time icing my shins. Thankfully I was back in business by saturday and completed the 14 mile run. It was very challenging, but not as difficult as I had anticipated. What keeps me going is remembering why I do this. I am running for those who can't. I am running for our Honored Heroe's and those that we have lost along the way. I am running to find better treaments and ultimatley, a cure. I am halfway to my running goal and my fundraising goal, but I need your help to finish both of those finish lines! Please show your support by donating! Every dollar gets us to our goal of finding a cure!

***5/18/2010

When I fractured my foot it threw off my training more than expected. I have now switched from a June marathon to one in October. This is great because I am now fully recovered and working on my training and fundraising. I am about half way there (I am waiting for it to be posted to the website) but I still need your help! Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your tax deductable donation!

****UPDATE**** 2/25/2010

I have already hit my first obstacle in training...walking. Yes, walking.

Last week I managed to fracture my foot while walking through my parking lot. But don't worry because I will continue to train by aqua jogging. I hope to give it a go this weekend and will update with that soon.

Run a marathon, help cure cancer.

Welcome to my Team and Training page!

I am back with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's TEAM IN TRAINING to run the Nike Women's Marathon on October 17, 2010 again! Yes, that's 26.2 long, enduring miles. When I ran back in 2007 I was able to raise over $4,800 with your help.

Why my decision? I chose to run with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society because Leukemia has taken two of my family members, my uncle Christopher Aragon (age 6) and great uncle Hinds McGowan. This is something that has become very important to my family and me. Blood cancer is something difficult to fight, and I want to do everything I can do to get one step closer to ending it.

What is TEAM IN TRAINING (TNT)? This program exists to raise funds to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood-related cancers. TNT participants physically train for 4-5 months under an experience coach all while raising money for the LLS.

What you should know: These dieses strike 107,900 Americans each year and kill 60,500. Leukemia is the #1 cause of death in children between the ages of 1-15. That is the bad news. The good news is that the survival rate has risen from 4% in 1960 to 81% in the last decade.

And how am I really going to get through this?? In addition to the support of the coach, mentor (past TNT participant), staff, and team, I have received an "honored hero" to run in honor of. My honored hero is Emma Woodle, a spunky 7-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L) in 2008. She is currently in treatment with one year left. What Emma and her family have gone through has required much more strength and endurance than I must meet to complete 26.6 miles.

What I am asking from you: Donate! Over 75% of my minimum personal goal of $3,500 will go back to The Society for research, patient services, advocacy, & education! If you chose to contribute, you can do so on this secure website. Please know that NO DONATION IS TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL because every bit helps! Thanks in advance for your support!

Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.

Thank you for your continued support and donations!
