Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco on October 17, 2010 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. This will be my first time to run a half marathon.
A couple months ago, I could not even picture 13 miles in my head. Today, however I know it is a goal that is achievable. I realized that if a person could go through multiple rounds of chemotherapy and come out alive, I could run 13 miles and also come out going strong. I have been training hard for the half marathon in October and my team is already up to 10 miles! I want to run this half marathon to show that it is possible to achieve and to help raise money to find a cure for cancer! I will be meeting up with my sister Leslie from Virginia and running the half marathon with her.
Let me tell you how you can help me in this long fight against cancer. Did you know every four minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer and every 10 minutes, someone dies? Thats why your donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Team in Training is so important. Every little dollar counts. No donation goes unappreciated. You can help by donating and by spreading the word to your friends and family. It is easy to do. You simply click how much you would like to donate at the right of the page. Then you click on donate and put in your information! Last year alone, the Nike Women's Marathon raised 14 million dollars by itself! WOW!
All proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and checks and credit cards are both accepted!
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
I will be writing people's names on my shirt and arms during the race so if you want me to wear your name, the name of a loved one, or a name of someone you would like to remember during the race letme know!
