It's time for something new!
I've done 5 70.3 races so far - 2 at Galveston 70.3, 2 at Oilman, and one in Oceanside, CA.
This year I've set my sights on Puerto Rico. It's a short plane ride from Houston, supposed to be a lovely course, and well - I get to raise money for LLS. So let's do it!
My goal is $3500. I'll have to have another big fundraiser, but we also rely on individual donations - every dollar helps! If you're willing to give up your $5 Starbucks today, please consider doing so and donating instead :)
Flights to PR are kinda pricey, so I'm just saying it's my 30th birthday present to myself. I am really working on building my base so I can be strong for the race (and start working towards IMAZ).
Cancer pisses me off. If it makes you angry too - please donate today! DO SOMETHING REAL.
Well that sounds familiar.
I participated in Nike Women's Marathon in 2012 (time does fly), raising over $3,000 for LLS - and am joining the TEAM again for second helping!
The difference? Nike no longer offers a full marathon, wha?! But you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be tackling those San Francisco hills in the half! Nike is such an awesome event because the ENTIRE race benefits LLS and there is purple all over the course...so many people running for the cause - love it!
And I'll be one of 'em. Donate today!
Hi friends! I'm 89% of the way to my fundraising goal for Galveston 70.3. I'm very excited to be doing my first triathlon in almost a year, and even more excited to be doing it with Team in Training! Raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has become such a big part of my life! But I hope to one day be able to stop - because then there will be a cure.
I've seen several "cancer awareness" "games" floating around on Facebook. While I think it's nice that people support cancer awareness, these games just aren't cool or fun to me because a) they don't even mention anything about cancer really, and b) it does nothing. What does a picture without makeup or a silly fake status accomplish? I mean, are there any adults who haven't been affected by cancer in some way? I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who isn't aware of its wrath. Cancer doesn't discriminate.
So I urge you to do something real for the cause. Blood cancer research is leading the field and is finding new discoveries for ALL kinds of cancer. Why not donate to research? Every $5, $10, $20, whatever you can afford adds up. I've seen it happen.
Here's a pic of me with two of my best friends at our other dear friend Michelle's wedding. Shea (middle) is one true badass leukemia survivor and my personal honored teammate. Jess (right), Shea, Michelle, and I all met through Team in Training, and last year we all raced Oceanside 70.3, raising over $3500 each.
Oceanside 70.3 killas at Michelle's bridal luncheon. Me, Lindsey, Michelle, Jess, and Shea!
I'm so grateful this cause has brought us together. But like I said, someday I hope we can all say that we were part of the effort to reach the real finish line - a cure for cancer!!
Someday is today...
So you know what's coming up next - Oceanside 70.3!
With these cold winter months, it's really hard to motivate, so I came up with a FUNdraising idea that will be entertaining for YOU but not so fun for me. Here's how to play....
I will track the number of miles I swim, bike, and run in the month of January (so far I have run 18, not very much, I know. I'm asking YOU to donate by the mile ($1/mile, $0.50/mile, etc). If I hit 100 miles for January and you donate just 25 cents per mile, that's only $25 - for blood cancer research! Easy peasy.
I will personally also donate $1/mile. Who's with me??
Leave a comment below or email me at christa.ginsburg@gmail.com to commit to donating!
Let's raise some money for LLS and get my butt in gear for the current TNT season!
Thanks for the support, yall!!
I'm jumping back on the TNT train and fundraising for LLS through my second go-round with Galveston 70.3 - and couldn't be more excited! This is my first TNT event after having a BABY and I can't wait for baby Rachel to be cheering with Daddy at Moody Gardens!
You all know how much this cause means to me and I hope you'll consider making a donation - it's the end of the year after all, and tax season is right around the corner. Think about giving a wonderful gift - a contribution to find a cure for blood cancer!
Here's a picture of me with some of the San Diego team on race day (16 weeks pregnant with Baby Rach)...it was awesome being an on-course coach and I am so ready to be a participant again!
