Racing to Save Lives Welcome to my Team In Training home page. Things covered on this page:
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! PERSONAL COMMITTMENT As many of you may know I have won my fight with cancer, but one never knows if it will return or if it will impact someone else they know. It all started back in June 2000 for me when I was diagnosed with cancer. After going through about 10 months of chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and a few surgeries, it made me change some personal desires. Then in November 2004, I lost my father after he was in a coma for some 4 months. This will make you start to realize to live each day as a blessing and try to do more to help everyone and not just yourself, and that tomorrow is never a guarantee so hold nothing back and if there is someone you care about; TELL THEM! Johnny Romano For each year and every event, TNT will find an individual that has won their battle or is still fighting with cancer. This year's event, Johnny Romano, was are honored teammate. We are sad to say after bravely fighting for some 3 years after being diagnosed in 2005 with leukemia, young 10 year old Johnny has lost his battle on September 23, 2008, from complications associated with AML. We are glad he is not having to suffer everyday anymore and Johnny will remain with us all, even after our race in April. Moments like this one are so hard to overcome, but it also reminds us all just how awesome and important it is to continue doing what we are doing! COMMITTMENT I am excited to say that I was able to raise $5,355 for the Nation's 2008 Triathlon and I am pledged for $5,000 for the LoneStar IronMan in April 2009. After this event, I am committing to complete TNT's Triple Crown Award (Marathon, Triathlon, and Centurion bike ride) and also raise over $25,000 before 2011, in hopes of helping the LLS find the cure for cancer by 2015. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
