WELCOME TO OUR TEAMS HOMEPAGE!

I’d like to tell you a story of an incredibly strong person  who faced blood  cancer with fierce and unrelenting determination and why our family, as the team Chuck’s Champions,  is participating Team In Training's  Aramco Houston Half Marathon  on January 18, 2015.

At the end of 2008, Chuck developed a life threatening  cardiac issue.  Determined to do everything he could to fight his way back to a healthy life and with the  blessings from his team of doctors, he started to run. At first, he did not run far or fast..but was determined and steady. Over the course of the next two years, that determination turned to passion..a passion for running. With running came healing, and by the end of 2010, Chuck ran, and finished,  his first marathon. Two months later, his health faced another challenge..this one a much bigger challenge that required a much bigger fight.

In  early 2011, Chuck was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, classical, stage II, supposedly very treatable.  Through the knowledge, skill and caring of his medical team and the determination and passion  he gained from running,  Chuck fought a war against his diagnosis, always hopeful that one day he would return to running marathons.

One of the last treatments he received was through a clinical trial of two medications, used to treat other types of cancer, which was being studied because of the potential to help patients with refractory Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (like Chuck) achieve remission….and it almost worked. However, the effects of the multiple treatments used over the course of the three years proved too much for his body to handle. So, despite multiple chemotherapy treatments regimens,   radiation treatments and a stem cell transplant,  Hodgkin’s Lymphoma claimed another life on June 27 2014.

So..we are Chuck’s Champions, myself, our daughters Kelly and Kristin and our son Kevin. Our family’s decision to participate in the Aramco Houston Half Marathon  was born from our desire to honor this courageous man doing something that he loved…running, and to do SOMETHING that might help defeat this cancer so others will NEVER have to fight the battle that Chuck had to fight.

So..we are fundraising to run.. ..we are running to heal and to provide hope. Please consider making a donation to support  our team.

Thank you and God bless.

Across the US TNT participants are training together as teams to prepare for a sports event that will support cures and access to treatments for blood cancer patients!

They will be raising funds to continue The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's funding of the breakthrough development of therapies that have already saved and continues to save thousands of lives. As a team, we are that much stronger, but still need the might of your support.

Please donate now to this TNT team and help us all get closer to a world without blood cancers!

Thank you!

"I remember so many great times when you all lived in Mesa. Chuck was such a pleasure to be around and will dearly be missed by all that knew him. He is in heaven providing a marathon for those runners that made it to heaven before he did. I am sure he will be running with Chuck's Champions during the marathon and will run with you for the rest of your lives. Just look up and you will see him running through the clouds. God Speed to each of you. "

"There are so many memories of growing up with Chuck. He loved running with the football, running in the snow trails and riding his 10 speed bike. His neighborhood buddies were often at our house goofing around and laughing. There are memories of family camping trips to oceans and mountains. One time Chuck, Bonnie, Tom and I hid in the phone booth from a bear at Yellowstone. Yikes! As teens, all of us sang in the Church Choir, where Chuck met his beloved Sharon, the love of his life. And later in Colorado, it was so heartwarming to watch Chuck play with his dearest children, Kelly, Kristin and Kevin. God Bless and Peace to All as we carry his memories in our hearts.
