Back for Round Two!

Dear friends and family,

Last January 18, I completed my first half-marathon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. Many of you generously supported my efforts to find a cure for blood cancer. I spent six months training and swearing I would never run again.

Well, I lied! I'm coming back to complete the Aramco Houston Half-Marathon on January 17, 2010. I'm not back because I suddenly discovered a deep rooted love of running. I am back because we continue to lose more and more people to hodgkin's lymphoma, non-hodgkin's lymphoma, leukemia, and multiple myeloma, and I cannot stand back and do nothing.

For anyone who is new to my story, I was diagnosed with Stage IV hodgkin's lymphoma in April of 2007. I underwent six month of chemotherapy, and I have been in remission since I finished treatment in October 2007. I consider myself so blessed to be one of the lucky ones that made it to the other side, but there are so many patients who are fighting for their lives right now. I feel that it is my responsibility as a survivor to ensure that we do not lose one more life to this disease.
