Racing to Save Lives



Welcome to my Team In Training home page.



I'm training to participate in the Nike Women's Half Marathon (yes, I'm a guy) in October as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. TNT members are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.



I am completing this event in honor of my wife, Dori, a leukemia survivor, as well as an honored teammate, John Anderson, a 12-year-old Tennessean battling acute leukemia, and our friends who have been battling blood cancers. The goal is to eradicate blood cancers once and for all, and you can help us do it.



Please donate generously to support this noble cause. I believe Dori and many others are alive today because of the commitment of many like you to this cause.

Update 06/08/08



Wow, everyone! What an amazing start - nearly $3,500 in the first week and I've had several commitments to donate offline (via mail). Your amazing generosity is so inspiring. Last week on vacation, I received notifications of your donations via email ... It motivated me to run four times in the heat, totaling 20 miles. Please spread the word about our effort, and let's kick blood cancers square in their collective rumps. Love, Jim



Update 07/28



$8,650 and counting ... amazing! Motivation to run through this heat comes from many people ... Dori, other blood cancer survivors, patients we follow and those who have died after battling these cruel diseases. Those of you have given to LLS through Team In Training have become a big part of my motivation. Thank you, and God bless each of you! Jim



Update 08/09



Training has gone well the last week. Total mileage was 27 miles, with a 13-miler this morning. Our team is an amazing group. I enjoy running with them and am making some great new friends. I can't think of a better way to spend my Saturday mornings these days. Thank you for contributing to LLS!



Update 09/24

Race Day is less than one month away, and I'm feeling good about where things are. I'm injury free after 367 miles, and we've raised $11,800 with another $2,000 of corporate pledges still to be collected. We might get to our $20,000 goal! Thank you, everyone, for your support. Know that Dori and I are grateful.



Post-Race Report 10/24

The race is over, and I'm grateful to all of you. As of today, we raised $13,870, with another $1,500 of corporate matches yet to be counted. Dori's Light the Night Team has raised $4,300 to date and my compant donated $2,500 to Light the Night. I think we can say we had a positive impact on our little corner of the world. Thank you again and please continue to pray for the researchers, patients and families who are dealing with all cancers. Jim
