Hello Everyone and Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I so appreciate you visiting my page. I hope that you'll take a moment to read why this is such a personal journey. And I am happy to say, that at least for this project, that we are down the home stretch!!
We did our longest training run this past weekend, 20 miles! So the Advil bottle is right nearby today.
On Monday, October 31st, Halloween, the Nashville crew will represent Team In Training and run the marathon, all 26.2 miles, in Dublin, Ireland. The very first 'international' team from Nashville. It's going to be fun, but the real reason we run, is to raise money for research and find a cure once and for all. Too many of my friends didn't make it, many have relapsed. So running 26 plus miles--getting cramps--fatigue-feeling like you can't go even one more step-is nothing to what a cancer patient goes through.
So here's the deal. My Fund-raising goal is a hefty one--- $25,000! It will be tough to get there, especially in these crazy times, however as a survivor of stage 4 non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, I am resolved to hit this goal. All money raised will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. And the great thing is that it goes towards 'research' to cure blood cancers. By the way, the trip is paid--you are not paying for my vacation--every dollar you give goes to research for blood cancers.
The reality is that I need your help. If you can give a donation I would truly appreciate it so much! And that can be for whatever you can spare...whether it's $5 or $500, my appreciation is the same.
I am completing this race and this fundraising in dedication to my friend Dori Brown, who passed away this past June at just 42-years old, after battling leukemia 3 times.
In addition to Dori, we run for of all the individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
