Welcome to Ted's Team in Training page, please contribute now!!
In October of 2009, I lost my Grandmother to Acute Leukemia, so I decided to participate in the 2010 Country Music Half Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.
Team in Training (TNT) raises funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
I am completing this event in honor of my Grandmother.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress, I hope to blog my training here.
Thanks for your support!

April 25, 2010 - Final update - THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Dear friends and family,
I am writing you to let you know that yesterday I completed the Country Music Hlaf Marathon! Despite the heat and humidity (and a really bad case of blisters) I finished the race before the anticipated bad weather.
I would like to thank all of you for help me raise $4,400 to help fight Leukemia and Lymphoma. Team in Train and LLS runners raised over $1,000,000 in this event alone!! On Friday night, we heard from a survivor of Leukemia who was aided by a new drug almost exclusively funded by donations from people like you!
Thank you very much for your support! I am considering running this again next year, so check your email around November! :)
Thank you,
Ted Sanft
Update 3/26/10:
I have been a busy boy, working very hard and continuing to be motivated by all of the donations. I am in my final push for $5000. Donations have slowed and I really want to do my best to raise $5000. Since my last update, I have maintained my running well and even have run a 1/2 marathon as a training run! The Tom King 1/2 Marathon was on 3/13 and I ran it (slowly). I have two more long runs to go, then I am winding down to prepare for the big run. With luck and weather, I hope to complete the run in 2:20 or less.
Thank you all for your continued support!
Update 1/23/10:
I had a good week of training. I missed 20 miles by 1 mile, running 19 this week, however I did brave a thunderstorm to get one of my 4 mile runs in this week.
I continue to be inspired by those I am running with, some of the stories of survival are incredible and the stories of loss are heart wrenching. I continue to push myself to do my best for those that have supported me.
Update 1/16/10:
Awesome training week this week. I managed 16 miles with a good 6 mile run to cap the week. No hockey for me this week, so next week I should be able to run at least 12 miles plus an 8 mile long run. 20 will be a huge accomplishment for me, it has been a long time since I have run that far in a a week. If not for TNT and your donations, I certainly would have slept in this morning. Thank you for your support and if you are interested in the details of my weekly training, you can go to http://www.dailymile.com/people/tsanft
Update 1/09/10:
I have had a great week of training. I ran 17 miles this week, capped with a beautiful 8.1 mile run today. I continue to be inspired by the folks running with TNT and it has been GREAT motivation for me to get out and run. My goal for this week is to start running some morning runs and try to get my distance up to 4 miles per day during the week. I hope to be stronger and faster each week. I do not want to let down those who have contributed to the cause.
Update 1/2/10:
I admit it, I have been a slacker. I have had a particularily nasty sinus infection that has limited my running, but last week I gutted out a 6 mile long run and this week I managed 15 miles, topped off with a good 6 mile long run today. My sinus infection is about gone, so I am looking forward to pretty dramatically advancing my training in the next serveral weeks. Thank you for the donations, they help me get up at 6:00am to run in -5 wind chills!
Update 12/12/09:
I ran three times this week, including a great group training run right by my house for a total of 10 miles. My pace for the group training run was just a touch below 11's, which is a huge improvement for me! So far I am really enjoying running with a group. The 4 mile run went by very quickly. Again, thank you for your continued support!
Update 12/05/09:
I ran three times this week, including a great group training run at LP Field this morning. I have run 9 miles this week and I plan to run 12 next week. Now that my traveling is done for awhile, I plan on really bearing down on the running and the weight loss. Thank you for your continued support!
Update 11/21/09:
I ran twice this week, including the first Group Training Run with TNT. The run was only 2 miles, but I got to meet my teammates for the half marathon (there were a lot more than I expected!) This weeks promises to be challenging, with Thanksgiving being here (and of course, hockey). Starting the week of Novemver 30, I hope to move my milage up to somthing around 12 miles per week.
Update 11/7/09:
Ran 7.3 miles this week (two runs). Not great, but not a bad start either. I hope to be up to 14-16 miles per week by the end of November. Thanks for the support and remember, you can donate more than once! :)
