Welcome to my Team In Training home page.


As most of you know on July 5, 2007 my life changed forever. That was the day that I was diagnosed with AML Leukemia. At the time of my diagnosis I was not even sure that I knew what leukemia was all I knew was that a lot of people die from it. That day I was admitted to Vanderbilt Hospital to 11 North where I spent the next 5 weeks taking chemo to get rid of the disease. On October 11, 2007 I received a stem cell transplant that I was lucky enough to have had my brother as a donor. This began my new life as a cancer survivor and as a transplant recipient. This has been a very difficult journey that has truly changed me in ways that are not only physical. If it was not for the research that has been done by the Doctors in this field and the funds that have been raised by groups like Team In Training I would not be here today, and my 7 year old Claire and 9 year old Carter would be without a father.


As a tribute to all of those people and in an effort to pay forward the debt of gratitude that I owe, I'm training to participate in the Music City Half Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. On April 25th there will be over 1,000 of us running in purple jerseys to honor those that have endured blood cancers and those that we lost to the disease. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! This disease is without prejudice. It affects the young and the old. If it has not already it probably will effect someone that you know.
