For 30 years it has been the way the U.S. has sent astronauts to orbit. It has provided for countless experiments in cancer research. Now those that made the program possible are donating their time and artifacts for The Countdown for the Cure silent auction - furthering NASA's commitment to find a cure for these horrible diseases. All proceeds from this auction will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The auction was held July 1-10, 2011. Thanks to everyone who bid. We raised $725 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

My thanks to all the wonderful people who have donated items and to Spacevidcast.com for interviewing me on June 30th!

Racing to Save Lives

After completing the Disney World Marathon in January, I was unbelievable excited (and tired). Thanks to everyone's support and encouragement, together we raised over $2000 for LLS! April came along and I realized I was growing restless. Something just seemed to be missing. I began to dream of training, then heard about an upcoming marathon, the Rock-n-Roll Savannah Marathon in November.

Immediately I realized I had to sign up for it. So once again, I'm training to participate in an marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Lymphoma Quick Facts

  • Lymphoma is the name for a group of blood cancers that develop in the lymphatic system. Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) are the two main types of lymphoma.
  • In 2009, about 601,180 people are living with lymphoma or are in remission. This number includes about 148,460 people with Hodgkin lymphoma and about 452,720 people with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
  • About 74,490 people living in the United States will be diagnosed with lymphoma in 2009

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
