Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Well, we're half way through our season now. we rode 50 miles this morning. Wow! What a workout. Coach Bruce has this funny way of telling us we are going to work hard this ride. He says that the ride is rolling hills with kind of a smirk on his face...then we know we're in trouble. The whole "ride" has been a challenge but so rewarding. I think that any thing we do has to be easier than the treatments that our honored hero Mikael had to endure.

We had our recommitment celebration on Wednesday. I was able to talk with Mikael for a short time. He is a beautiful little boy with a wonderful spirit about him. I told him that I say a prayer for him everyday and I ride with him on my mind. He said "thank you" with a sweet smile. No child, or anyone for that matter should have to endure the pain and suffering that so many of Leukemia and Lymphoma patients have to. They inspire me to get up at 5:30 on Saturday mornings for training. I will pray for all of them as I ride my heart out.
