Racing to Save Lives
In Memory of Nancy Chinn
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED IN HONOR OF MY MOM
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. My mom recently on May 17th quietly passed on after a long battle with Leukemia. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and myeloma from taking more lives. I will be attempting to raise as many donations for the society as I can in order to allow some other son, daughter, husband, or wife to not lose their loved one. I am completing this event in honor of her, and all she did for me, and for all the individuals who are battling blood cancers today.

I plan on running in the Nike Women's Marathont in San Francisco October 18th and the San Antonio Rock & Roll Marathon on November 15th in memory of my mom.

Progress Updates:
- SAN ANTONIO MARATHON - Sunday November 15th
- After another month of training it is time for my initial goal of running the San Antonio Marathon to happen.
- SAN FRANCISCO: 26.2 Miles in around 5hrs 20mins (about a 12 minute mile). Will put up pictures and more soon!
- Been doing mostly shorter runs to prepare for San Francisco. Thank you all for your support!
- 9/28/09 - Less than a month until San Francisco!
- 9/19/09 - Running through New Braunfels which is about 20 miles north of San Antonio, completed 18miles running around the small town and through Gruene as well. The run ended at a park with a wonderful, cool creek running through it that we all rested our bodies in.
- Sam's club was very succesful raising over $700 in just 6 hours. The generosity of people even in these tough economic times is incredible!
- 9/13/09 - I and at least one other friend plan on being at the Sam's Club on San Pedro & Bitters. Our plan will be running a half marathon each on a treadmill outside the store this Sunday to raise money for the society. Please stop by and say hi!
- 9/2/09 - We officially have $6000 raised.
- 8/15/09 - 12 miles and nearly a half marathon through the hills in NW San Antonio. 2 Months away from the Nike Marathon.
- 8/2/09 - Those who have made offline donations through the mail put us over $5000 as they were posted this weekend.
- 8/1/09 - La Canterra - 8 Miles through the hills of NW San Antonio.
- 7/26/09 - 9 miles tonight. The farthest I have run yet and creeping towards double digits. Only 3 times this to go.
- 7/14/09 - Ran 6 miles last night, my farthest run so far. It is much cooler during the evening.
- 7/13/09 - A month and a half into fundraising and we are at $4000 in the fight against blood cancers!! The kindness in people's hearts continues to amaze me.
- 7/8/09 - 104 degree heat. Too hot to run any great distance. Stayed in the shade and did short distance totallign up to about 2 miles.
- 6/25/09 - We have already raised $3000 in about a month to help fight blood cancers. THANK YOU so much for your kind donations in honor of my mom! Every dollar helps the search for a cure.
- 6/24/09 - 3rd Practice: 104 degree heat index for a 3 mile run. Hopefully it will cool down a little for next time.
- 6/10/09 - First Practice: Scorching 95 degree heat 2 mile run.
