Running to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I was recently on WOAI's Sports Sunday, to view my interview click here: Mark Greene's Reason to Run
Hi!
I'm Mark Greene, your average 18 year old in San Antonio, TX and I need your support. I am honored to have qualified to run in the Boston Marathon on April 20. With this honor I want to raise $500,000 for cancer research through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training program. I have decided to take on this task in honor of my sister, Maria.
Maria was diagnosed with Mycosis Fungoides, a rare form non-Hodgkins lymphoma, over eleven years ago at age nine. There is no cure for Mycosis Fungoides and Maria continues to be an outpatient at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Beginning when I was six years old I was part of Maria's cancer treatment process. You see, cancer is a family affair and impacts people from every walk of life. For this reason I am raising money on her behalf and all other cancer patients. All the money raised will go to fund research in the fight to cure these blood-related cancers. I have a gift of running fast and far. I reached my goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Today my goal is raising half a million dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which takes more than just me running. I invite you to participate in achieving this historic goal. Together we can not only make a difference but change the world.
How do you participate?
1. Donate money to support this cause here on my website at www.runningforacure.org
2. Send this e-mail to your friends, family, neighbors, clients, and community leaders encouraging them to donate money.
3. Remember Helen Keller's quote "Alone we can do so little, Together we can do so much!"
Thank you
Mark Greene

P.S. - In case you were wondering I finished the San Antonio Rock and Roll Marathon November 2008 in 2 hours and 54 minutes and 37 seconds. Finishing in first place for all participants under 22 years old
