Racing to Save Lives
I am going to run a marathon this summer as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. The way I see it, if leukemia and lymphoma sufferers can fight against their diseases every day, I can push myself to run a measly little 26.2 miles!
My goal is to raise $5,400 over the next few months as I train to run the marathon.
A few months ago, I lost my mother to cancer. She suffered from reoccurences of cancer in her lungs and lymph nodes for over eight years. But when my mom was feeling healthy, she was always out in the community helping others. How could I do anything less?
That's why I joined Team In Training, which raises funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and myeloma from taking more lives. The marathon will take place in Anchorage, Alaska, where some of my family's happiest times occurred. I think my mom would like that I'm going back there...and for a good cause.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Any dollar amount will be truly appreciated and used to its full advantage!
I hope you check back to this site frequently; I will post updates about my progress. Thanks for your support!
This week's update: We ran 16 miles on Saturday. I definitely felt the effects of the Texas sun, but I was very careful with hydration and it was a great experience. And running is so much more fun when you can pass the time chit chatting!
