Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I trained for 6 months and have completed the Nike Women's Marathon on October 18th as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloplastic syndromes (myeloma, multiple myeloma) from taking more lives. I always run in memory of my nephew, Ben Kelhoffer, who passed away on October 17,1998, after a 1 year struggle with a rare type of chronic myeloid leukemia. I also ran for a young woman, Jen Miller, who was diagnosed with chronic lymphatic leukemia in 2005. She has undergone treatments, and is now in remission. Blood cancers will cause the death of more than 53,000 people in the US this year alone, and is one of the leading causes of death in children. My personal aches, pains, and running struggles (trust me there are alot some days) don't compare to the pain or struggle of one hour of one of their treatments. All those who are battling one of these blood cancers are the real heroes on our team, and we all need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

I COMPLETED THE MARATHON OCTOBER 18TH AND ENJOYED THE VICTORY PARTY THAT NIGHT WITH ALOT A DANCING! IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL BUT DIFFICULT COURSE AND I BELIEVE I WAS THE ONLY FULL MARATHONER FROM OUR GROUP WHO MADE IT TO THE VICTORY PARTY. WE HAD A LOT TO CELEBRATE WITH ALL THE MONEY RAISED ACROSS THE NATION THROUGH THIS EVENT TO BENEFIT THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY! ALTHOUGH I COMPLETED THE MARATHON, 26.2 miles, I HAVE NOT YET REACHED MY FUNDRAISING GOAL. Please help me in my effort to find a cure.
