Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in a half marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Why am I doing this? As many of you know, I am the lucky mother of three beautiful young boys. My middle son, Connor age 2, has a genetic syndrome called Velocardiofacial Syndrome or DiGeorge Syndrome. Having this syndrome has changed our lives! Not only does he struggle day to day to do things others take for granted, he is also at an increased risk of developing any number of diseases, including cancer.
I enjoy running and need some way to stay in shape to chase after these active boys, so I decided to join this cause to help fight the disease that I hope never strikes another child.
I need your help!! Please donate to help me raise money for this organization. You can give any amount, consider pledging a set amount per mile (race distance is 13.1 miles). Maybe cancer has effected a loved one, maybe you want to donate in their honor. Please tell me, I will put that person's name on my race shirt on race day for all to see.
I hope you will visit my web site often.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!
