Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I initially signed up for Team in Training because I wanted this to be the year I took my cycling to the next level. As you may know, I suffered a severe ankle fracture in 2009 that kept me in a walking cast and out of work for year. After healing, I took up cycling in 2011. I was able to ride 47 miles in June of 2011 for a breast cancer charity. That was less than 6 months after being out of that cast! The feeling of accomplishment that day was overwhelming. I repeated that ride this past June and learned it was not a fluke and that I could do even more!
I felt empowered and great and wanted to continue cycling! Then I realized that my training and sweat could be so much more than just for me. I wanted to be a charity cyclist! One that rides for causes and not just their self! I became interested in Team in Training because of a family member who was dedicated to the cause.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS), headquartered in White Plains, NY, is the world‘s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. LLS‘s mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin‘s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Team in Training (TnT) is a fundraising portion of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). During the process they provide supervised team coaching for the event while the participants (that’s me!) have a set goal in fundraising.
I will not be shy, my fundraising goal is a big one! $3950!
I am excited about this event in that it takes place in Tucson, Arizona the Saturday before Thanksgiving, (Thanks Carli for giving me vacation days!). El Tour is a fun adventure ride attracting over 9,000 cyclists of all ages and abilities from throughout the United States and worldwide.
I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with YOUR support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
