Hi Everyone! Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
11.21.09 Sorry for the lack of updates for a couple of months. Hopefully you have seen my updates on Facebook or other places and have seen that this past Saturday we completed a 16 miles run! Almost every Saturday we go a little further, and it feels awesome. I am over halfway to my fundraising goal, so THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far. Also, Jess and I have a combined page now, where it will share donations evenly among the two of us, and it posts our joint fundraising events and everything else. You can visit it HERE. Thanks again for your support!!
9.22.09 Thank you to everyone who has sent me notes of encouragement and support. I also want to thank you for sharing stories about how Leukemia and Lymphoma have affected your lives. Jess and I talk about how running a marathon is nothing in comparison to the pain that cancer patients endure. I could not fit all the names I received in the sidebar, so I added some to the top. Please send me more names if you have them; again, they keep me going! Thanks again!
9.20.09 The garage sale today was a great success! We had a lof of support from people in our community and were able to raise a lot of money. It was great to see people willing to donate to strangers because they knew that LLS is such a great cause. We will post our earnings soon!
9.19.09 We did our longest run yet, 5 miles! Saturdays are our "long run" days, and Jess and I feel great so far. It's true that the first couple miles are the worst, and your body just feels better after that! Looking forward to a great fundraising weekend and another great week of training to come...
Here is my story...
I know many of you know me as a swimmer, but I decided that running would be a HUGE challege for me, especially running a marathon! I have never really run before, but I love the challege!
I'm training with my sister Jessie Baldwin to participate in the Walt Disney World Marathon in January 2010. We are training almost every day, and when it gets hard, we know we'll be supporting each other as we go!
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. In the process, we also learn how to set goals, pace ourselves, and endure through the challenges of pushing our bodies to the limits... because no matter how much it might hurt me to run miles and miles, it is nothing compared to what people battling cancer endure with their treatments.
I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team. I know that through the support of friends and family who believe in me to actually complete a race of this magnitude, I can do it. And it is with your support the LLS can cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
If you have a connection with LLS, I would love to hear about it! I would also be happy to run in honor of someone that you know who has or has had blood cancer, because that is what it is all about!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often, as I will work on keeping it updated with both my training and fundraising progress.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress, and share this link with anyone who might be interested in supporting this great cause! Thanks for your support!
Thanks!
