Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in the San Diego Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - A CURE!

This past December, I ran in the Las Vegas Half-Marathon as a personal achievement. This time I'd like to have my race really make a difference, not only for me but for the people who are suffering from blood cancers.

A Note from Jon's Family:

"15 year old Jon Stachofsky was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia 2 years ago at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane WA.

He has undergone chemotherapy and radiation treatment and lost his hair twice, but is currently in remission and will continue treatment until June 2010. He is a freshman at Pasco High school and is looking forward to baseball season when he hopes to make the freshman team.

He also loves snowboarding, watching movies and hanging with friends. Jon has faced this challenge with determination to not let cancer get the best of him. Going through cancer as a teenager can seem like life as you’ve known it has ended, but what your life becomes can be something that challenges others to not give up and to make life even better than before.â€
