Day 13: 05/24/10
MY TEAM IS AWESOME!! ACC (Anti-Cancer Crew) had the most team members show-up to the Applebee's Fun Run! Best part? My full team, Team in Training, is totally awesome and supportive of each other. Our coach, Brooke, really helped everyone out and checked on all of us about half-way through our walk. I know with the support of my team members and coaches that I will be able to complete this half marathon. Now, it's up to YOU to help me earn enough money to actually get there. My time wasn't great, and I was for sure the slowest person out there, but I felt like an important part of the team. Good news! At least one Monday a month the Applebee's off of I-215 and Warm Springs will donate a small percentage of sales to our cause! I will give you more information, like the exact dates, when I learn it.
Day 14: 05/25/10
I was supposed to have a moderate walk for 25 minutes today. Didn't happen. Instead, I had a marathon day of heavy cleaning and chasing (sometimes running from) spiders and bugs!! I have almost finished my spring cleaning...meaning I cleaned my windows, vents, under the couch, etc...I had NO idea how out of control my dust bunnies were! I actually broke a sweat, and it went well past 25 minutes. However, I don't think that's what coach Brooke had in mind...I will have to do better tomorrow - for sure!
Day 15: 05/26/10
I'm such a good girl!! I did my 30 minutes of cross training (swimming) today, exactly as instructed by my coach. The swimming felt really good to my whole body and it made my whole day. I showed-up and there was only one other person in the pool. I recognized that it was a life guard that sometimes works at the pool. It was because of this that I found it really hard to understand why there were 4 lifeguards standing around the lifeguard stand. So, I had 5 lifeguards (I also have my training, but they didn't know that) watching me - or so I thought. Everytime I would pause in my swimming to put my gloves on or grab my kick board, I realized that I was severely disturbing the conversation of these boys. So, I decided to work the kickboard a little extra and listen-in on their conversation. Were they talking about? girlfriends, family, money, school, world events? No. This conversation of greatest importance was about...toilet paper. That's right! Everything about toilet paper! Who is responsible to replace it? The person who uses the last square or the next person to go the grocery store? Should the paper go over or under? (THIS WAS A HEATED PORTION OF THE CONVERSATION), should they make their girlfriend buy some since they use more, etc...Really, it was hard to start swimming laps and let go of this enthraulling conversation - but I did...only during my swim could this happen.
Day 16: 05/27/10
I was supposed to walk 25 minutes tonight. Instead of doing the treadmill walk, as planned, my husband and I ended-up chasing a poor stray dog all over a grocery store parking lot and near-by park. We were trying to prevent him from running out onto a very busy road, but the little white poodle mix was just too scared and too fast to catch. We had to call animal control to go get him, which I hated doing, but he would have a much better chance surviving being picked-up and put in a shelter than running around and trying to avoid getting hit by a car. Sad day. :0(
Day 17: 05/28/10:
No work out today...boo.
Day 18: 05/29/10:
Today was our first big training day as a team. I definitely went with the walking group, and those girls are fast! I actually had a hard time keeping-up with them (though I was having a diabetes day...but no excuses!), but I got my blood sugar down and did my walk. After training was complete, we had a wonderful shoe clinic at Fleet Feet off of Buffalo drive. It was awesome! I always thought I was a size 9, and I had a size 9 pair of walking shoes I had just purchased. After getting measured and tested, I found-out that I was actually a size 10!!!! That was a shocker, but I got my new shoes and a pair of toe socks (I HIGHLY recommend them, by the way) and am ready for my first day of training in my new shoes and socks on Monday...yay!!
Day 20: 05/31/10:
I think that I should figure-out when the Marathon is and start doing a count-down...may be a little more dramatic. I'll think about it. Anyway, today was my first day training with my new shoes and socks. AWESOME!!! It really made a difference! My feet felt great and my lower back didn't hurt as bad. It's amazing what a difference the proper shoes and socks make in your training. I was a little disappointed that I had to miss the Applebee's fun run tonight, but I had some family business to take care of and had to miss it. Oh well, tonight my 20 minute walk was done by circling my apartment complex a few times while dragging my dog along with me. I say drag because my dog is out of shape. I had no idea how out of shape he was until our walk tonight. He has to walk with me at least once a week from now on...this was supposed to be a light day! Oh Chico, you and I should do this Marathon! Remember, mama loves you!!

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
