Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am training to run in the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco CA on October 18, 2009.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
My personal hero is my friend's son Kevin Adams Jr (pictured here on his Make a Wish trip to Australia after treatment). Kevin is a Burkitt's Lymphoma survivor. Thanks to all the money raised over the years for research, he is now a healthy 13 year old boy. I feel that training for and running in a marathon is a piece of cake compared to what leukemia and lymphoma patients endure every day. My fundraising goal is a small drop in the bucket, but the money I raise could buy medicine to help a patient get through another few days of life.
I will be training for the next 5 months, running anywhere from 16 to 30+ miles a week in order to reach my goal of crossing the finish line in San Francisco. I hope this will help LLS to reach their finish line, a CURE.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
