Racing to Save Lives

I am training for the Wildflower Triathlon through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team-In-Training Program. I am committed to raising at least $2,900 by April 25th, 2010.

Leukemia is the number one disease-killer of children under 15 and lymphoma is the leading killer of men and women under 35. Every five minutes someone in the United States learns that they have leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. Working with the Team-In-Training has been a great experience: we get to train with the honorees, leukemia & lymphoma survivors. It is deeply moving to hear their stories and then workout with them running 6 miles or more or swimming a mile in the chilly waters of Redwood Shores.

Team-In-Training works with participants to train for endurance events in exchange for raising funds to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The triathlon will begin with a 1.5 K (0.93 mi) swim in Lake San Antonio (Monterey, CA), followed by 40K (24.8 mi) bike ride and a 10 K (6.2 mi) run. Therefore, with your help and theirs, I hope to raise the necessary funds to keep the Society fighting to find a cure for these terrible diseases and survive my first triathlon.
