I'm training to participate in a sprint distance triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. The event is the San Francisco Triathlon at Treasure Island taking place Sunday, November 9, 2008.

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I am completing this event in honor of my friend Ago (who passed away in August 2007), my uncle Ernesto, who is currently fighting leukemia, and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

This is my first endurance event, ever! After more than twenty years of inactivity, in my mid-forties, and a few extra pounds (well maybe more than just a few) , this is going to be a monumental undertaking. I'm not going to let that deter me. With your help and support we can make a difference!!!

In the next fourteen weeks, I pledge to work my butt off (figuratively and literally!) to cross the finish line and help fund the search for a cure. Help me by making a generous donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
