Welcome to my Team In Training site!

I'm training to participate in the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon event on June 6, 2010, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

In the past, volunteering with my sorority sisters to cheer on runners has been inspiring and fun. This year, I'm very excited because this will be my FIRST time to cross the finish line!

Training highlights

I started training on 1/30, but here is my log of more recent milestones:

3/20 -- I went 12 miles - right along the San Andreas Fault -- living on the edge of danger! I've improved my running intervals incrementally too.

3/27 -- I accomplished 3 hrs of run/walk at Coyote Point, San Mateo, and I circled the Stanford Dish a few times now. I learned that running hills creates an extra challenge!

4/3 -- I ran at Half Moon Bay - alongside the ocean for 12.5 miles

4/10 -- 15 miles in cold rainy weather in Mountain View, home of Google

4/17 - 18 miles in Los Gatos -- a new milestone!

4/21 - I visited the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto to learn more about children undergoing treatments.

Throughout May, I continued to train between 15-21 miles every week. The race is only a couple of weeks away. I am tapering now, so trainings are light - only 6-8 miles.
