Marathon #6 Is In The Books!!
Welcome to my Team in Training fundraising page! I'm so glad you stopped in to help out the cause and check out my progress!
Yes folks, I actually did it! It sounds insane even to me, but on May 31st, I laced up my Saucony running shoes, slipped into my Atalanta running skirt, put on my purple TNT singlet and ran 26.2 miles! The marathon is now finished...but that doesn't mean that fundraising slows down! I am now three-quarters of the way to my goal - thank you so much for all your support! If you haven't donated yet, now's the time to do so!! Fundraising will continue for only a short time after the marathon, so if you've been waiting, please donate now!
What's Going On?
As you may have heard, I'm running a marathon (yes, that's 26.2 miles - no shortcuts!). On May 31st, I'll lace up my running shoes, don my purple Team in Training singlet and run the Rock 'n Roll Marathon in San Diego. I'm working hard to beat that six hour mark this time around, but I'm working even harder to reach another goal...raising $7,500 to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society cure blood cancers!
Why Should I Care?
We are so close to a cure for blood cancers - the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has a goal of curing blood cancers by the year 2015. Yes, that's right...a cure for blood cancers within the next 6 years!
None of us are lucky enough to be untouched by cancer in some form.
Because blood cancers are often more easily studied than other cancers, the research funded by the Society has far-reaching implications well beyond blood cancers. Chemotherapy itself was developed as a treatment for a blood cancer.
How Can I Help?
I thought you'd never ask! None of the Society's research programs would be possible without the support of individuals like you! My personal goal is to raise more than $7,500 to support the Society's research, patient support and education programs. Donating is easy, simple and secure - just click the blue 'DONATE NOW' button on the left side of the page to get started.
How Much Should I Give?
Please be as generous as you are able, but know that even a small donation will make a big difference in the lives of patients and their families!
A few suggested amounts...
$2,620 - $100 for each mile I'll run on May 31st (go on, make my day!)
$350 - $50 for each one of the seven honorees whose names I proudly wore in my last TNT event
$100 - enough to fund two Family Support groups with trained facilitators, providing comfort and connections among patients and family members
$60 - $10 for each of the marathons I'll have run by the time I cross that finish line on May 31st
$26.20 - $1 for each mile I'll run on May 31st
**If you are donating in honor or memory of a loved one who has battled cancer, please let me know - it would be an honor to add their name to my singlet on May 31st!
