Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

Warm thanks to all the generous people who have helped me surpass my initial fundraising goal. Since the race isn't for another month, I'm aiming now to raise $5000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Every contribution makes a big difference in the lives of those with blood cancers. New research results in better treatment options and more and more cures.

My experiences with the LLS Team In Training, raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives, continue to be awesome. Last weekend we did our first practice triathlon at Half Moon Bay. The water was a lot colder than in the SF Bay. This coming weekend we have another practice tri at Pacific Grove, the location of the actual race. I've learned how to change tires on my bicycle (my son Austin taught me well) and that it is important to carry the equipment at all times on the bike rather than leave the equipement in a bag in the car. I even degreased and lubricated the chain and gears myself.

I am completing this event with a group of colleagues at Santa Clara University and in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers and especially for two survivors who are special to me--Gail Gradowski and Terry Sherwood. My survivor friends, the Team in Training honorees, and my other teammates are an inspiration, but we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
