Racing to Save Lives!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I'm training to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon on October 17, 2010 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on TNT are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children under the age of 20. As a child cancer survivor, this is one of the reasons why I decided to join TNT. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor (astrocytoma) at the age of 5. Facing surgery, needles and doctor visits is pretty scary for a child. My family's support and great team of doctors allowed me to live a normal and happy life. With your support, the funds raised for The Leukemia and Lymphoma society can help advance research, and most importantly, hope.
Every 4 minutes, someone is diagnosed; every 10 minutes, someone dies from blood cancers. I faced the scary reality of cancer again when my husband Jason was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2006. I donated my hair, created a book and blanket drive for the local children's hospital and spent countless hours by Jason's side through the sickening side effects of chemo, cat scans and doctor visits.
I want to do all I can to help prevent anyone from going through what Jason and I and our familes have gone through. I am completing the Royal Victoria Marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling cancer. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
Keep checking back to see my progress here and at my website.
Thank you so much!
I've switched to the Nike Women's Marathon! I'd like to thank everyone who donated to my Royal Victoria Page:
