*Racing to challenge and better myself,
and more importantly...to save lives*
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my Team in Training fundraising site! If you can believe it, I have recently decided to take on a *HUGE* challenge. I'm training to run 26.2 miles in the Nike Women's Marathon, on October 17, 2010, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training! My goal is to not only run the entire marathon, but to raise $2,500 by October 1, 2010!
As a stay at home mom, and caregiver to my elderly grandfather, somedays my life can be draining and overwhelming...These moments pale in comparison to the battle thousands of people across the country are facing, while fighting blood cancer. Leukemia is still the number one killer of children under the age of 20; and having two small boys, this statistic definitely hits home. I am so grateful for the good health of my children and my family, and want to do something to help those who aren't as lucky as me. Today, there are an estimated 245,225 children and adults battling leukemia in the United States. These people benefit from treatments, counseling and patient care paid for and supported by, donors like you! Over 75% of the money you donate goes directly to fund research and patient services. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - finding a cure!
Please make a donation if you are able, however big or small, to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thank you so much for your support!
Health and Happiness,
~Jannie
*My husband Shawn works at Stanford Hospital, and we have spent many, many lunch breaks out there visiting Daddy. Inside Children's Hospital is a model train that Cameron is particularly fond of...The train is located directly outside the Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Diseases...I can't tell you how many time I have watched my sweet boys interact with other sweet little children, who just happen to be bald and hooked up to IV's...And each time tears are brought to my eyes, as I am reminded just how blessed I am to have healthy children :-)
* This is a picture of Me and Jennifer, after a good Tuesday night track workout--She is one of our honorees, which means she is a cancer survivor! She was diagnosed last year as an 18 year college freshman with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma...She was treated at Stanford Children's Hospital, and is now in remission! She is actually training with us for the Kauai Half Marathon! She is AWESOME!
