Who wants to help?

I am not a hero. I am just a woman who needs to get in shape and believes in a cause - raising money for research dedicated to finding cures for blood cancers. So here I go again with Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I am pretty serious about it. I completed the event in 2006 and raised $3K. Last year I signed up and raised near $9K, but my congenital heart condition stopped me from participating. This year, I am hell bent on completing 26.2 miles.

Those who know me know I have a pretty large network online . My minimum fundraising requirement is $2.5K. My goal is $10K. My hope is that I can get 1/3 of my network to each donate at least $1 and everyone will benefit (tax-wise, too).

And when I say I'd like $1, I really mean that. It's not some lure to get you to donate hundreds. While some have donated more than that, and it's appreciated, if all you want to give is $1 I will be just as appreciative!

I should say that while there are countless brave survivors out there, I am doing this year's marathon in honor of my cousin, Joe Gugliotta, who was diagnosed with lymphoma in January and is now, thanks to research, cancer free.
