Racing to Save Lives



Hi everyone! Welcome to my Team In Training home page.



I'm training to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I am very excited to be a part of this Team! As you can see from my photo, I definitely need to work on form. Why is it that my legs and torso seem to be going in different directions? (Maybe THAT'S why Katie Holmes beat me in the New York City Marathon last year!)



We have now completed our first 10 miler of the season. If I ran it in hot and humid Wisconsin, alone, I wonder if I could count it as 11 or 12??



All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I will be completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers.



I'm running especially for my cousin, who has been struggling with a rare form of leukemia. He and his family have been through so much, and yet their faith in Jesus Christ and trust in His promises through this whole process has been amazing and a great example to me. He is truly running "with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith." (Heb. 12:1-2) He has now had his stem cell transplant, and is doing well. God is good!



I am also running for a family friend who has recently finished her own race. After years of battle with myeloma, she can now say, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. " (2 Tim. 4:7) She was taken to be with her Savior in June. Her family and friends will miss her.



These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross a greater finish line - a cure!
