Racing to Save Lives

Well, this is it...the BIG ONE!!! My biggest attempt to help fight blood cancers...an Ironman triathlon. That's 2.4 miles swimming, 112 miles cycling and 26.2 miles running...and I have 16 hours to cross the finish line.

My goals are numerous: To embark on the biggest physical challenge of my life, to ring in my 40th birthday year in a memorable way, and to continue in my campaign to fight blood cancer by raising $6,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I will be training and competing in this endurance event to honor all of the friends I have met and those I haven't who have been afflicted with a blood cancer.

We're at the halfway mark and thus, I just completed my first Half-Ironman. There have been tears, pain, frustration and excitement these past 5 months of training. I take special pride in the fact that I didn't know how to swim when this adventure began and I just completed a 1.2 mile swim in a lake for the Half-Ironman AND made the cut-off time.
