Hello Everyone,

I began my journey with Team in Training in July of 2004 to raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) research. When I decided to join Team in Training I knew very little about the cause and like most participants the only thing I had in mind was getting back in shape. It wasnt until our kick-off meeting when we met the amazing Leukemia and Lymphoma survivors (honorees) that I realized how much Team in Training gives back to the cancer communities not only by offering support systems and services for cancer patients but most of all the cause to finding cure for Leukemia and Lymphoma and other blood related cancers.

Let me tell you why this is such a worthy cause:

• Leukemia and Lymphoma are cancers of the blood or related organs
• Leukemia kills more children between the ages of 2 and 15 than any other disease
• Ten times as many adults as children are stricken with leukemia
• Leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma will strike some 106,700 Americans each year and kill approximately 60,400
• There is no known way to prevent leukemia, but it can be treated effectively

Let me tell you a little bit about Team in Training:

• Team in Training has one simple mission to fund more research and SAVE more lives!
• For every $1.00 donated, $.75 cents goes directly to research and patient services
• Team in Training has been around for 20 years. Since 1988, more than 380,000 volunteer participants have helped raised $1 Billion
• Team in Training is the largest endurance sports training program. The program provides training to run or walk marathons and half marathons or participate in triathlons and century (100-mile) bike rides.
