Going LONG for a Cure!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I have decided to, once again, join The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training (TNT) to continue raising funds for research, patient care, community education, and outreach programs. However, this time is a little different. This time I have decided to go all out. I want to GO LONG to find a cure for blood cancers. I have joined TNT's craziest group of all, the IRONTEAM!!!
Seven weeks ago, I began training with the Ironteam. The next seven months of my life will be largely dedicated to training and fundraising. I have two main goals that I am determined to achieve:
Goal #1: I will raise $5,800 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to continue their amazing work in the fight against cancer.
Goal #2: On July 31, 2010, I will race in the Vineman full Ironman Triathlon in Sonoma, CA and complete it, even if it takes me the entire 17 hours to do it!
The Ironman distance triathlon is a bit crazy. The race will consist of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run! Right now I can swim about 1.5 miles, bike around 25, and run 6. I have a long way to go in my training and we have a long way to go to find a cure for blood cancers. Every mile of training and every dollar donated will help us to reach our goals!
I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
