to Alissa's Team In Training home page!
I am now training to participate in the Vineman Full Iron Distance Triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. This is quite a big step ahead of any of the events I have completed so far (mostly half marathons). A full iron distance triathlon consists of a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride, and ends with a full marathon (26.2 miles of running)... all continuously in one day! Can you believe how crazy that sounds?
I am only a novice on my bike and have barely started learning any kind of swimming technique, so this adventure is quite a stretch for me. But, having been a part of Team in Training in the past, I believe in the program and plan to show up for my training and let the rest happen to me, knowing that the coaches, captains, mentors, and other team members will help me along.
Not only have I signed up for an intense training schedule, but I have also signed up to raise $5800 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Won't you help me reach this goal by donating what you can today?
