Racing to Save Lives

Have you or someone you know ever been affected by cancer? And did you ever wish that you could do something to help, but just didn't know how? I felt this way when a relative passed away suddenly from cancer a few years ago. That's why I was excited when I realized that I CAN do something to help and not just watch cancer invade the lives of those that I love.

As a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training participant, I will be running the Big Sur Half Marathon on November 15th in Monterey Bay in honor of everyone who is battling blood cancer. The proceeds from this event will go towards funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

This event has extra meaning to me. When I was diagnosed with arthritis 2 years ago, I did not know if I would be able to walk again, much less run a half marathon. By doing this, I am defying the odds and hope to inspire others to believe that they can do anything despite any obstacles in their path.
