Racing to Save Lives!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I'm training to participate in the 2009 Intracoastal Waterway Century (100 miles of cycling in one day) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training Cycle Team. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
Though I am competing in this event to make a difference for all individuals who are battling blood cancers, I am riding in honor of my little cousin, Leah, who was diagnosed with Leukemia last October, just before her second birthday. Leah is responding well to treatment made possible by reasearch from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which is funded through the generosity of people like you. We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
Update:
July 19: Every week that goes by, I put a few more miles behind me or work on builidng strength as I work up my goal of 100 miles. Last Wednesday I did hill repeats, riding up and over the 17th St. Causeway 12 times in succession. This past Saturday, it was 30 miles of interval training plus twice over the Rickenbacker Causeway without downshifting into my lowest gears. The weekend before, I cranked out 62 miles, a Metric Century, in the Frank Stark Ride in Boca Raton. Next week, 10-mile time trials and more training. Bring it on!
But behind everything I'm doing, all the sweat, all the effort, is the reason, the purpose - Leah and the 823,000 Americans suffering from blood cancer, 823,000 Americans who can be helped by expanded research, new drug trials, or by financial assistance to help win the battle against these diseases.

August 29: Today, my mother, Sheilah Tritt, passed away after a 15 year battle with Parkinson's. She was 72. When I hit my first 100th mile in October, it will be for her. It was she who taught me how to ride my first bike.
I would like to thank everyone who has donated to this cause in support of my effort and in support of LLS for your generosity. Together, we can make a difference.
