I'm getting ready to head to the airport with my little partner in crime, Mikey. To say that I'm excited is an understatment. I'm thrilled!!!! Never in a millions years did I think I'd not only be able to raise as much money as WE have, especially without one single corporate sponsorship, but tonight I will get to learn all of the details of the wonderful medical research grant that I will get to name after my late husband, Gary.
He's the one I run for so that NO one else has to walk in the shoes that Mikey and I have to walk in every single day.
Saturday the 27th at 7pm at the Omni Shoreham in DC. For those that can't be there in person you can stream live. Download UStream on your mobile device and the channel you will want to search for is Road2Baldacious.
Thank you all so very much for making this grant a reality. You'd think I'd be afraid to shave my head, but it's just hair! :)
We are officially 1 week away from my fundraising deadline of getting to $50k before the big race. There are a lot of different fundraising initiatives going on so I figured I'd put a quick post up mentioning everything that is going on:
1) **NEW** For the next 7 days (so until the 27th) I will personally match the largest donation that comes in each day until I hit the $50k mark.
2) My friends at Yap Originals is holding a Photo Session Auction. To participate you will need to like their Facebook page. The current bid is at around $350 and you have until the 24th to place your bid for the auction.
3) iPad raffle is still going strong. $20 for 1 ticket, $30 for 2, and $50 for 3. If you donate more than that you'll get more tickets of course ;) You do not have to tell me that you are donating for the raffle, you are automatically entered.
Thank you all for your continuous support without you all I could not be where I'm at. I have my eye on the prize which is the Gary Thomas Zullo Research Grant and it will be happening!
I know a lot of new people are following my site so I figured I'd reintroduce you to Gary. My primary reason for doing what I'm doing. It's too late to save Gary's life, but it's not too late to save others. Gary was only 33 years old when he passed away back on New Year's Day 2010. His son, Michael, was barely 2 when his daddy died. One thing that Gary feared more than anything else was leaving his son behind at the age of 2 since when he was 2 his own father left him (but by choice).
I run for Gary....for all of the others out there that are fighting....the surivors....those that died....and those that don't know yet that they will have a blood cancer. I do it because I want NO one to have to walk in OUR shoes ever again. No wife should lose their husband, no son should lose their father, no mother should lose her son.
We are less than $12k away from hitting the big $50k mark. With YOUR help however big or small we can CURE cancer!
