The weather here in South Florida has been irregular lately. Sunny Miami has turned into a tropical wetland, causing our last two TEAM training sessions to be canceled! While the rain discourages outdoor training, Katie and I are fortunate to hold membership at an awesome gym very close to our apartment. We can swim, spin, run, and lift all-in-one at 24 Hour Fitness. As our training continues, so does our fundraising. With less than 3 weeks before Tri-Miami Triathlon, we need your help! Every dollar counts. Thank you to all who have already donated, please know that every dollar you donate goes directly towards finding a cure for blood cancers.
GO TEAM!
I finally got to use my Christmas present from Katie, a spot at the Nautica South Beach Triathlon! Sunday, April 1st I competed in the "Classic" distance race, finishing 16th of 67 other men in the 25-29 age group. Just after sunrise we hit the water near 14th and Ocean Drive in South Beach; kicks to the head, scratches, sea life, and ~14 mins later I was on the bike. 19 scenic miles of Miami Beach Art Deco buildings, causeway climbs, and a few near-misses and I put on my running shoes. I hit the pavement and felt great for the first two miles. My ill-preparedness in hydrating that morning caught up with me and I lost ground to those other 15 guys. Live and learn!
I had a blast and am so thankful to Katie for being my official race sherpa, photographer, and cheer squad. Below is a post-race picture on sunny South Beach.
Hello!!
We have now been training with our TNT team for about a month and are loving it so far! Every Saturday morning we meet our team bright and early to bike, run and swim. Every week our team has increased our distance a little bit. We have really enjoyed meeting all of the wonderful people on our team, our awesome coaches/mentors/captions, and our honored teammate. Since we still consider ourselves new in the area, it has been great to have this group to practice with every week. When we get there every morning Ben's car is like Mary Poppin's purse because somehow we fit two bikes, plus all of our gear into a two door coupe.
During the week we train mostly on our own, by going to spinning, swimming at the gym, and running our usual routes. My wonderful husband makes sure we are up before the sun every morning to get our workout in :)
We feel so blessed to have our health, and are so glad to be able to help others who are sick. Please consider donating to the cause to beat blood cancers. Any amount you feel led to give will help, going towards reasearch and monetary aid for patients who need help affording their treatments and medications.
More updates to come soon!
Greetings!
Katie and I have teamed up to raise awareness and honor those battling blood cancers such as Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and Myeloma. Our efforts are twofold: We will be raising money that will be used to help find a cure for these diseases, as well as preparing ourselves physically for the Tri-Miami Olympic Distance Triathlon.
Together, there’s no telling what we can do. As a Team, we can combine efforts to save lives.
Welcome to our homepage!
We will update this page regularly to reflect both our latest fundraising efforts as well as training excursions throughout the Spring.
Please help us in the fight to cure blood cancers! Thank you in advance for you encouragement and any monetary contribution. Every dollar counts!
