WELCOME TO MY NEW TEAM IN TRAINING (TNT) FUNDRAISING PAGE!
I'm Becca, and I'm the bride newlywed behind this project. Some of you remember me from last year's campaign "Run, Becca. Run! A Bride on the run... for her friend with Lymphoma.". I was my Team in Training chapter's rookie runner who, before my first ever marathon, had a fundraiser, serious training, a new job, a wedding, and a honeymoon to do.
It all started when my dear friend Joelle was diagnosed with Lymphoma in July 2013. In our group of friends we were scared, upset, and brokenhearted. I wanted to support her, but given the long distance, all I could do was join my local Leukemia & Lymphoma Society chapter in what turned out to be the biggest adventure of that year. (and that's the understatement of a century!)
The happy news: After an intensive treatment Joelle is cancer free, we raised funds for more successful blood cancer treatments, and she was able to come to my wedding. (oh, and I survived my first marathon!)
Thanks to the money raised by Team in Training (TnT) for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, successful cancer treatments, like the one my friend had, are possible today!
Every donation helps fund treatments that save lives every day. You may not know it, but every single donation helps save a life with breakthrough therapies such as these. (A fun fact is that other cancer treatments have begun in researches the LLS has supported!) Patients need these cures and they need our support!
This year, as a Mentor, I'll be running with my Team in Training family for Team #JoelleStrong like last time, and joining us will be #TeamRhaiza (our high school friend, Mom extraordinaire, and current cancer warrior).
Help us get to the finish line, for them and their families.
Thank you & GEAUX TEAM!
-Becca
