Changing the World, One Race at a Time!
May 23, 2011
Here we go again!
For the last two years I have dedicated my time to the Southern Florida Team in Training Chapter, training and completing my first half marathon, full marathon, several other endurance events, and raising thousands of dollars for the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Time and Time again friends, family members, and complete strangers have not only donated towards the cause, but have encouraged and supported me through every effort- I hope I can count on you one more time!
The Bad news : I am leaving South Florida at the end of this summer to New York City.
The Good news : I am dedicating my last summer in South Florida to the organization that changed my life- I am doing one last season with the Southern Florida Chapter.
I've chosen to participate in the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, taking place on my 28th birthday weekend on October 1st, 2011.
I am doing this in loving memory of Ana Luz Mayoral. She was my best friend's mother, who was taken away from us in 2002 after a six month battle with cancer. Her death was sudden, but her memory has lived on in her two daughters, whom possess her vibrant spirit and gusto for life.
I run in her memory, to help every mother, father and family that has ever lost someone or lived with cancer. For my best friend, Ani who has shown strength, maturity, and resilience in the years since her passing.
I also run in honor of my brave friend, Erica Calix-a cancer survivor, who has been stricken with lymphoma twice- her strength and determination inspires me to fight so that others have a chance to live a healthy, cancer-free life.
Please- help me give one last THANK YOU to the organization that has saved so many lives- as you know EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS.
As always, with your donation, please include a name of anyone you'd like to be honored to be placed on my jersey on raceday.
Thank you and GO TEAM!
